"My favorite sin of all.” Satan, in The Devil’s Advocate "Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 What an insane proverb, but sadly one of many, that the sheeple use.  The only time pride is “bad” is when a foolish man or woman is so blinded by pride in transient accomplishment that they fail to look where they are going and they fall on their ass. So, fearful of "dangerous" pride, they take refuge in mewling, sheepish, humility. Like Uriah Heep, they are ever, ever so humble… What utter nonsense! Does an artist not take pride in a masterpiece? Does not an athlete take pride in a great feat of speed, agility, or strength? Does not a brilliant person take pride in a book they write or a business deal they pull off? Yes, in sheeple mythology, Satan was punished for the sin of pride. In fact, he was punished for intelligence and beauty by a God whose pride was offended. The Satanist delights in pride! "Envy is what lights the flame of ambition." In the previous chapter, I already spoke of resentment, and resentment is a wrath that springs from misplaced envy. Stupid, compulsive envy is, in fact, the secret delight of almost all sheeple, for it is the only deadly sin in which they indulge on a daily basis. “I must keep up with the Joneses!”  "How come that jerk is rich and I am poor?!”  How come that woman is so beautiful, and has so many men vying  for her, while I am doomed to look like a frump?” "How come those kids always get A's, when I study much harder and never get any grade above a C?” “Baah, Baah, Baah", the sheep bleat. I have a dear friend in Minnesota, named Jen Morgan. She is a strong, beautiful, hard rocking, bike riding Satanic witch. She is also intelligent and articulate. Sometimes, people cross her. Once, it was a fat, gross, stupid neighbor. Another time, while in between jobs, it was an officious busy body of a "welfare case worker''. A third time, she was on track to graduate from one of the thousands of “for profit” business colleges, having studied for a Law Enforcement & Forensic Sciences diploma. Unfortunately, only a few weeks shy of graduating, the administration had her kicked out, and she was cheated out of her money. All of the imbeciles that had crossed her, or tried to, very quickly learned the power of the Satanist. They felt her wrath and learned that Jen don't miss when she aims her destruction spell! Mark Twain, the author of superb Satanic texts such as Letters From The Earth, and, The Mysterious Stranger, wrote, in his classic, Huckleberry Finn, of the simple, innocent pleasure Huck and Jim enjoyed by simply laying back in their raft after a hard day, delighting in a well-earned rest. They knew the importance of rest, of wise sloth. Of siesta, of simply "kicking back" and "vegging". Too many sheeple (remember that word?) drive themselves crazy by simply forgetting to relax. Other sheeple mistake senseless torpor for true relaxation, or flee from hard work, even when it is necessary to accomplish some goal, or earn some reward.  The Satanist delights in well-earned sloth, for she knows the delights of relieving the tensions of life. She works hard and plays hard, and when her play and work are done, she happily kicks back. Sometimes, she just takes a nap, dreaming Satanic dreams as she does so. Incidentally, the  woman who wrote that  marvelous book about The Golden Goddesses hopes to make a lot of money off her book. Like the founder of The Church of Satan, she prefers Mammon! The Satanist delights in greed. Not the imbecilic greed of Mr. Scrooge, hoarding money without using it to better himself or to reward the deserving, but the creative greed that gathers and uses wealth- and all other worldly goods- wisely. If frugality helps her achieve her goals, she is frugal. If a bit of spending is called for, she spends away. She follows the precept of a great American Satanist, Ben Franklin, author of The Way To Wealth and member of The Hell Fire Club.
