The 7 Deadly Sins: Sloth
Mark Twain, the author of superb Satanic texts such as Letters From The Earth, and, The Mysterious Stranger, wrote, in his classic, Huckleberry Finn, of the simple, innocent pleasure Huck and Jim enjoyed by simply laying back in their raft after a hard day, delighting in a well-earned rest. They knew the importance of rest, of wise sloth. Of siesta, of simply "kicking back" and "vegging". Too many sheeple (remember that word?) drive themselves crazy by simply forgetting to relax. Other sheeple mistake senseless torpor for true relaxation, or flee from hard work, even when it is necessary to accomplish some goal, or earn some reward.
The Satanist delights in well-earned sloth, for she knows the delights of relieving the tensions of life.
She works hard and plays hard, and when her play and work are done, she happily kicks back. Sometimes, she just takes a nap, dreaming Satanic dreams as she does so. Sometimes, she reads a book that gives her pleasure or enlightenment, or delights in a puzzle or game. Sometimes she simply meditates on her life and on her beliefs. Through it all, she respects the balance factor.
In today’s modern world of single parenthood, tightly booked schedules, inflation, an epidemic and the ongoing climate crisis, we have more on our plates than ever before as a society.
Women especially are faced with a unique set of challenges that are vastly different from those of their mothers and grandmothers.
While many of us have become programmed to be content with devoting the best years of our lives to our employment or place of work, savoring the two pathetic days of every week that we are given to tend to our lives outside of the workplace, the modern Satanist laughs at such a system, for she knows it is flawed. In order to achieve true self-gratification and fulfillment, the Satanist indulges in necessary rest and relaxation as it is required, and she does not feel ashamed or guilty in doing so!
To quote William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, “Energy is an eternal delight, and he who desires, but acts not, breeds pestilence.”
The Satanist is wise and knows better. Unlike many of the sheeple who surround her, she knows that energy, to be truly savored, must be conserved.
