The 7 Deadly Sins: Envy

"Envy is what lights the flame of ambition."

In the previous chapter, I already spoke of resentment, and resentment is a wrath that springs from misplaced envy. Stupid, compulsive envy is, in fact, the secret delight of almost all sheeple, for it is the only deadly sin in which they indulge on a daily basis.

“I must keep up with the Joneses!”  "How come that jerk is rich and I am poor?!”  How come that woman is so beautiful, and has so many men vying  for her, while I am doomed to look like a frump?” "How come those kids always get A's, when I study much harder and never get any grade above a C?”

“Baah, Baah, Baah", the sheep bleat. Regardless of the situation, you get the idea. None of these morons know the true place of envy in human life. Properly understood, envy is what lights the flame of ambition.

The Satanist delights in proper envy! When she sees something someone else has that she deserves more, whether it be a grand house, wealth, or even an  attractive mate,  she ignores the ludicrous commandments against coveting and figures out how to get what she desires for herself, or as close to it as will satisfy her. If getting what she wants simply requires acquiring those things through hard work, she puts all her intelligence, strength and magic into her quest. If it requires guile or even a few well timed bits of con artistry, she gladly deploys her brain, heart, sinews, muscles, and, truth be told, when needed her loins (of course without shame or guilt!) to get what she deserves.

Throughout it all, her motto when confronted by adversity, is a simple one: Excelsior! In Nomine Die Nostri satanas, Luciferi, excelsi! In the name of all those she loves, especially but far from only, herself, she claims each day her righteous due.
