Josephus Darkheart knew from a young age that something wasn't right with the world around him. 

It was difficult to pinpoint exactly what that something was, as there are no shortage of things that are wrong with the world at any time, but as Josephus grew older, the answer became clearer. By the time he had reached adolescence, he realized that the answer had been in plain sight all along.

Between late night televangelist infomercials, and hot summers spent at Bible camp, to the collection plate that was passed around every Sunday, it dawned on young Joseph that Christianity was the cold, bloody fist that held the world in it's grip. For centuries, Christianity swept around the globe like an invisible plague, infecting it's simple victims with stupidity, hatred and delusion. Joseph was lucky to escape infection, and knew that if he had survived, surely, there must be others like himself.

In 1969, Joseph found the survivors he had been searching for, only they called themselves Satanists. 

Civil rights, feminism, and political and social unrest contributed to a historical cultural shift in the United States in the 1960's, the likes of which it's citizens had never seen before. In 1969, the Satanic Bible, written by founder of Satanism, Anton LaVey, was published. With it's release and the founding of Satanism, oppressed women everywhere were given a voice that they did not have a decade earlier, in a community that encouraged personal fulfillment, self-empowerment and sexual liberation, and indulgence. Women were unabashedly and unapologetically living life on their terms and embracing the Satanic way of life, with their biggest fan cheering them on from the sidelines, Joseph.

From his first encounter with a Satanist woman as a student, to his current interactions with hundreds of Satanist women around the world, Josephus’s respect, love and admiration for us remains as strong and unchanged as it was back then. His mentorship and support has influenced and changed the lives of countless Satanist women, and has given us an opportunity we may not have had otherwise, to connect with each other.

Where there is a gathering of women, however small or large, be it online, or in person, there can almost always be an expectation of drama, gossip and bullying amongst them, to some extent. Satan's Daughters is a movement that seeks to destroy this narrative, by showing women around the world the endless benefits of Satanism, and the joy, fulfillment and personal power it can bring to their lives. 

The Satanist woman is confident, secure, and self-aware. She is sexy on her own terms, intelligent and powerful, and makes no excuses or apologies for who she is. Anton LaVey once stated that Satanists are the highest forms of life on earth! The Satanist woman recognizes this, for she knows that tomorrow belongs to her!

There is an invisible thread that connects all of us who walk the Left Hand Path, and I have yet to meet a Satanist in my journey that I was not meant to. The world was bestowed a beautiful dark gift in the 1960’s, and I love giving that gift to others and watching their lives transform in front of their eyes.

There truly is a sense of belonging and acceptance in the Satanist community that I feel doesn't exist anywhere else. There is a sense of family here, and bondedness that exists regardless of age, gender, where you live in the world, how much money you make, etc., and to put it simply: It is beautiful.

Our blog is a collective space for our founder, Josephus Darkheart, our Priestesses and our members to write and discuss our experiences and perspectives as Satanists, and to share what we do at Satan’s Daughters with the rest of the world.
